Frederic Church 200
At the Thomas Cole National Historic Site
FREDERIC CHURCH 200 is a program launched by The Olana Partnership to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederic Church. A student of Thomas Cole, Church was one of America’s greatest artists and a legendary figure in landscape painting. Thomas Cole (1801-1848) taught Frederic Church (1826-1900) from 1844 to 1846. During that period, they often sketched together on the hill where Church later chose to build his home, Olana.
